Today I am sharing with you my top 5 recipes of 2017. These are my most popular and most visited recipes on the Pine Needles In My Salad blog during 2017. At the start of the New Year, after everyone has gone back to routines, I do some reflecting. Rather than making new year’s resolutions, I find I get more out of reflection and visualizing what I want my future to look like. Looking back always helps us look forward.

I always find it fascinating to discover what recipes people are most interested in cooking or learning to make. It gives me a glimpse into what you like or what needs you have. I thought I’d share this information with you today because these recipes are definitely worth revisiting. These top 5 recipes are some of my all time favorites. They are all delicious, family-friendly and meet popular dietary requirements. So, let’s get started!
Easy crock-pot roast beef is always a winner. This is comfort food made simple. Slow cooking the roast beef in a very small amount of beef gravy is the secret. It is always tender, flavorful and makes a perfect Sunday dinner with the family. It’s also important to treat yourself to comfort food occasionally. Crock-pot recipes continue to be an important staple.
Next up is orecchiette with alfredo sauce. This is my kid’s all time favorite dish. They especially love this sauce made with orecchiette pasta which means “little ears” in Italian. But we also make it frequently with Barilla Gluten Free Penne Pasta. This alfredo sauce is creamy and a very special treat. We don’t eat this all the time, but when we do…they come running. This dish is definitely a winner.
In the number 3 spot is gluten-free copy cat Ivar’s clam chowder. Ivar’s clam chowder is a Seattle staple. It is warm, creamy deliciousness in a bowl! My modified version of Ivar’s original recipe changes how the soup is thickened, removing the wheat and making it gluten-free. And it still tastes great!
In 2nd place is succulent fall off the bone BBQ pork ribs. This is one of my favorite BBQ recipes. Everyone in the family loves it because it’s not too spicy. I love it because it can be prepared ahead of time and then finished off on the grill for additional smokey flavor. That makes it great for camping trips or family gatherings too.
And my most popular recipe in 2017 was lemon garlic shrimp kabobs! This healthy and flavorful dish takes very little time to prepare and is BIG on flavor. I’m not surprised lemon garlic shrimp kabobs were so popular. This colorful dish takes me back to the Mediterranean with flavors of oregano, garlic, onions and extra virgin olive oil. And if you’re on a special diet at this time (Gluten free, Whole 30 or Paelo for example), you should give this one a look. It may fit your needs given it is high in protein and made with only all-natural ingredients.
